Workmanship Warranty
On our wooden gates, Heartlands Metal Craft offer a 5-year workmanship warranty covering manufacturing defects. Please be warned, however, that wood is a natural product so there’s the possibility it can move, warp, crack or split as part of natural weathering process.
We believe the maturing of your wood adds to the beauty of the material; it shouldn’t be cause for concern unless it impacts the structural integrity of the gate, in which case our team can advise.

Painted Wood Gate
If you choose to repaint, repair or clean your painted gate, we can provide detailed maintenance guidance. The paint used on your gate is a high-quality product which cannot be purchased online or in a local store.
Untreated Wood Gate
Untreated wood will weather naturally to a silvery colour. The type of timber used will determine the requirements of the gate and how long it will take to weather; Iroko will take longer to weather than other types, for example.
Stained Wood Gate
Staining can preserve or change the colour of the timber and can last several years without needing to be re-stained. Wooden gate stain will weather naturally to a silvery grey if left untreated for a long period of time. We can provide maintenance guidance should you wish to re-stain the gate.
Oiled Wood Gate
Whilst an oil coating will not stop the natural weathering process of your wood, it will slow it by replenishing lost oils in the material. Our wooden gates are oiled with Deks Oil D1, a low maintenance solution which can be reapplied as needed; we can provide you with further guidance to re-coat your oiled gate. If left without retreatment, the oil will fade into the wood and turn a natural silvery colour.
